![]() Grand Theft Auto is, without a doubt, one of the best series in gaming along with many huge best-selling franchises such as Mario, Wii Games, The Sims, FIFA and et cetera. Grand Theft Auto is not only famous for its massively open worlds, brilliant missions and satisfying violence, but it is also widely famous for its humorous dialogues and characters. Throughout the whole series, we have encountered characters that are so comical that gets the easily amused laughing their butts out of their seats to a point where it is exceedingly bothersome. Since the long anticipated release of GTA V, we have been introduced with new interesting characters throughout the game, especially since the game has introduced gamers with the first three playable protagonists in the Grand Theft Auto series. Here is a list of my top ten funniest characters in the GTA series. ![]() 10) Jimmy Jimmy is the son of one of the three protagonists, Michael De Santa. The fact that he is stereotypically a lazy teenager, who is constantly playing video games, browsing through Lifeinvader (a Facebook parody) and talking as if Snoop Dogg is his best friend, makes his character naturally funny… Yet annoying! Jimmy Quote: “He tried to knife attack me?! Nobody creeps on the J-dog my n*ggas!” ![]() 9) Kent Paul Kent Paul is a character who first appears in GTA Vice City at the Malibu club. His funniest moments have to be during his appearance on GTA San Andreas with his associate, Maccer, whom he often gets irritated by and acts as the babysitter of the pair throughout the game. Kent Paul Quote: “Man-tits! They were MAN-TITS!” ![]() 8) Roman We all remember Roman by his random phone calls which mostly asked Niko something like, “Hey, it’s your cousin, want to go bowling?” What makes that funny is the fact that he would always call the player at the wrong time, whether it was scripted in a mission or it was during the players own free roam time during a shootout with the cops. Roman Quote: “Why are you telling me this now? Do you always get sentimental after you kill people?” ![]() 7) Yusuf Although Yusuf may not be the most widely known character in GTA but it does not mean he wasn’t a funny one. Yusuf Amir is a supporting character in The Ballad of Gay Tony who has wild dreams about getting richer and richer. Don’t forgot, his dream is to fully take control of Liberty City and one way of achieving this is by stealing dominant vehicles like tanks and helicopters. My personal favourite moment from Yusuf has to be the cut scene for the mission “Caught with Your Pants Down” where he happens to be dancing around in his underwear with an Uzi in his hand then his father enters his apartment… A bit awkward, don’t you think? Yusuf Quote: “F*ck the People. F*ck them all. Whip out your d*ck and piss all over them” ![]() 6) Ryder Although he turns out to be an antagonist near the end of GTA San Andreas’ storyline, Ryder has to be another character to make it on this top list. Why? His grudge-holding attitude and moaning towards Carl Johnson’s return is quite comical. Ryder is always over-critical about the protagonist’s driver which the writers at Rockstar Games probably did to purposely aggravate the player as well. Ryder Quote: “Say, CJ, you gonna crash the car again?” ![]() 5) OG Loc OG Loc, or criticised for his name being Jeffery, is one of the most memorable characters in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Whenever he would start talking, the Grove Street Families and the players themselves would put their head in the palms of their hands. OG Loc’s comedy comes from his gangster-wannabe lifestyle and his self-claimed rapping skills. He is a simple embarrassment for the characters in the game but a comical individual for the players holding the controller. OG Loc Quote: “I’ve been gangbanging since I was three” ![]() 4) Brucie Brucie is another famous (or infamous rather) character who appears in both GTA IV and GTA V. He is widely recognised as a constant physical fitness freak that exceeds the boundaries of natural fitness throughout the game because of his interest in steroids and more body enhancement drugs. His personality is naturally funny as well as his dialogue throughout GTA IV. Brucie is just a deliberately funny bragger. Brucie Quote: “Be genetically superior, baby.” ![]() 3) The Truth This rather unusually mysterious character only appears in GTA San Andreas. Although he is more of a laidback hippy, The Truth can have his funny dialogue in many cut scenes and missions in the game. His personality is wise, sceptical and humorous on many occasions. The Truth Quote: “Don't look! Quick! Think of a yellow, rubber duck!” ![]() 2) Trevor Almost every gamer has played GTA V and the majority of the players would probably choose Trevor as the funniest character in Grand Theft Auto V, or possibly the entire series. The reason why he is so high up on my top list is because of paranoid remarks, anger management issues, random weirdness and hilarious dialogue. A lot of his dialogue cannot be taken too seriously simply due to the hard work given by his voice actor and the dedication from the writers of one of the greatest game developers of all time. Trevor Quote: “I'll swing by and sign the contracts, all right? Just ignore the bodies!" ![]() 1) Lazlow Lazlow Jones has been working on the Grand Theft Auto games since GTA III, as a voice actor and a writer. He makes the number one spot on my list because of his long contribution to the series since the early 2000s when the franchise started to reach the pinnacles of success and popularity. He has been featured in every game mostly as a radio host and has added extreme levels of humour in almost every game since GTA III was released in 2001. Lazlow’s character is by far the funniest and one of the most memorable in video gaming. Lazlow Quote: “Sir, this is a commercial radio station owned by Love Media. Advertising revenue pays my salary.” |
